What to Do When There Is No Heating or Hot Water

Emergency checklist when your heat pump has completely stopped producing heat

No heating or hot water — what to do now

If your heat pump has stopped producing heat or hot water entirely, work through this checklist quickly. Many issues can be resolved without a service visit.

Step 1: Check for alarms

Open the Qvantum app or check the display on the unit. If there is an active alarm (red indicator or alarm message), note the error code and look it up in our Error Codes section. Resetting the alarm may restore operation.

Step 2: Check the circuit breaker

Check your electrical panel to ensure the circuit breaker for the heat pump has not tripped. If it has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again immediately, do not reset it again — contact an electrician.

Step 3: Check the display

Is the display on the indoor unit lit and showing normal status? If the screen is completely dark, the unit may have lost power. Check the power supply and any local isolator switches near the unit.

Step 4: Check the heating mode

In the app, confirm that heating mode is active and the setpoint temperature is above the current room temperature. The heat pump only runs when there's a demand signal.

Step 5: Restart the unit

If the unit appears to be powered but not responding, try a soft restart from the app (Settings → Restart) or switch the unit off at the local isolator, wait 60 seconds, and switch it back on.
