High Pressure Protection Alarm: Recurring Resets Needed

Why your heat pump keeps triggering the high pressure alarm and what to do

My heat pump keeps alarming for High Pressure Protection

If you're resetting the High Pressure Protection alarm multiple times per week, this is a sign that the root cause has not been addressed. A single alarm can be a one-off event — recurring alarms indicate a problem that needs investigation.

Most likely causes of recurring alarms

  1. Refrigerant issue — The system may have too little or too much refrigerant, or a blockage in the circuit.
  2. Mixing valve fault — If the mixing valve actuator is not functioning correctly, heat cannot be distributed properly, causing pressure to build.
  3. Undersized system or incorrect settings — In some installations, the heating circuit settings don't match the building's requirements.
  4. Dirty or blocked filter — Check and clean filters in the indoor unit.

What you should do

  1. Note the dates and frequency of the alarms.
  2. Check and clean accessible filters.
  3. Contact Qvantum support with your serial number and the alarm history. We can review remote data from your unit to help diagnose the issue.

Important

Do not continue resetting the alarm without addressing the underlying cause. Repeated high pressure events can cause long-term damage to the compressor.
