Error Code H-44: What It Means and How to Resolve It
Understanding and clearing the H-44 high pressure protection alarm
What is error code H-44?
H-44 is a High Pressure Protection alarm. It means the refrigerant pressure inside the heat pump has exceeded safe operating limits and the compressor has shut down to protect the system.
Common causes
- Blocked or dirty filters reducing airflow
- Refrigerant circuit issue (e.g. shortage of gas)
- High outdoor temperatures combined with high heating demand
- Mixing valve or actuator malfunction
- System configuration issue after installation
How to reset the alarm
- Go to the display/control panel on your heat pump.
- Navigate to Alarms or Fault log.
- Select the H-44 alarm and choose Reset.
- The unit should restart automatically.
Note: If the alarm returns within a short time, do not continue resetting it. This indicates an underlying issue that requires a service visit.
